Jaw Contouring
With the ever-increasing usage of video chats and social media, we are seeing our faces for more and more of the day. For many men, this led them to an increasing desire for a stronger chin and jaw line to create a more masculine and well-defined face. This can lead to a more confident appearance in both the real and digital worlds. In general, men tend to have more pronounced, angular chin and angle of the mandible that creates a more broad and squared appearance.
While every patient’s need will vary, most men require additional volume and projection of their jaw and chin lines to create a broader look. This can be achieved with non-surgical and surgical options.

Additional Information
-
Non-surgical options mainly consist of facial fillers such a Juvederm® Volluma to increase the volume along the chin/jaw line by bulking up the overlying soft tissues. This is a great option for patients who require smaller changes, are looking for minimal downtime/recovery, or are looking for something that is not permanent since the filler will slowly dissolve over 1-2 years.
-
Surgical options usually involve the placement of an implant along the chin or mandible angle to create permanent projection and shape. There is a wide variety of implant sizes and shapes to address the needs and desires of each patient. The material that they are made from is also varied and can be made from a firm, form-stable silicone to a high-density porous polyethylene.

For the non-surgical options of jawline contouring, there are no incisions required with the filler placed through a small needle poke along the jaw line. For the surgical options, the implants are placed through incisions hidden within the mouth along the jaw-cheek border so that there are no external scars to worry about.
-
As with any procedure, there may be some expected bruising and swelling afterwards but is generally mild and well tolerated. Some patients will require a non-narcotic pain medication afterwards to help with any soreness or inflammation after surgical interventions.
-
The cost of non-surgical jawline contouring starts at $850 per syringe and final costs depend on the patients needs and amount required.
