Liquid Rhinoplasty
When it comes to the face, small changes can make a noticeable difference. The nose, as the center point of the face, is no exception and is often an area of concern for many patients. While a surgical rhinoplasty can be performed to correct irregularities in the contour and shape, this can sometimes be overkill and unnecessary for smaller problems. For these defects, a liquid rhinoplasty can be performed.
A liquid rhinoplasty uses dermal filler to help smooth and contour small nasal defects to improve the overall shape of the nose without the need for large incisions.
After a discussion about the goals, concerns and the completion of a physical exam, a topical anesthetic cream is applied to the nose to help with any discomfort. A small needle poke is used to allow the passage of a cannula or thin straw-like device to place the filler in the desired locations. A thicker, more cohesive filler is generally recommended to give the best results.
Additional Information
-
Those patients who have small contour irregularities of the dorsum/top or sides of the nose, slightly crooked nose, poor nasal definition, or a droopy nasal tip can all be good candidates for a liquid rhinoplasty.
-
The results from a liquid rhinoplasty can last anywhere from 12-18 months depending on the location of the filler placement and the type of filler used. Like filler in all areas, it is slowly broken down by the body over time. The good news is that additional filler can be placed to continue to have the same, lasting results.
-
The beautiful part of a liquid rhinoplasty is that there are no incisions to heal and very minimal swelling and/or bruising, if any. The swelling that is present is usually very minor and limited to 3-5 days after the procedure. Some soreness can be expected and is managed with over-the-counter pain medications.
-
While any procedure carries some risk of complications, the risks associated with a liquid rhinoplasty are relatively uncommon outside of the bruising, swelling and soreness. There is a very rare risk of skin death or blindness due to injection of the filler into an artery however, the techniques used by Dr. Maiorino are designed to significantly decrease those risks.
-
The cost of a liquid rhinoplasty starts at $850 per syringe and final costs depend on the patients needs and amount required.
Please note, we often have specials on injectables, so always be on the lookout!
