Brow Lift

An area of the face that can contribute to an older, tired appearance and can often be overlooked is the eyebrows. As sagging occurs, the upper eyelids appear heavier with a more hooded appearance. By raising the eyebrows to a normal position, patients will appear more refreshed and awake.

The location of the incisions will depend on several factors related to your current eyebrow position and appearance but can be any of the following:

  • Direct brow lift: An incision is made just above the eyebrow and excess skin removed to allow the eyebrow to be raised

  • Transblepharoplasty brow lift: using an upper eyelid incision, the eyebrow can be raised into its new position, usually combined with upper blepharoplasty

  • Endoscopic brow lift: using a camera and several small incisions in the hairline, the eyebrows can be lifted and raised into their new position

  • Pretrichial brow lift: an incision at the hairline is made to remove excess forehead skin and tighten the forehead and is used to position the eyebrows

 Additional Information

  • A decision regarding what your goals of surgery should be had prior to deciding which above-mentioned incision can be used for your surgery. In addition, not everyone is a candidate for every incision type, and therefore discussing your medicla history in addition to your goals will help Dr. Maiorino decide on the best approach for you.

  • The short answer is yes! Many patients who present with heavy appearing eyes think they need removal of the upper eyelid skin when brow ptosis or sagging is the real issue that they need addressed. Once the brows are lifted, this will naturally pull up some of the upper eyelid skin and will give a more awakened, vibrant appearance.

  • There will be some swelling and bruising around the eyebrows and forehead that can take several weeks to subside. It can take several weeks for the swelling to subside and the final brow position to become evident. The fine skin sutures will be removed in 5-7 days to help prevent scarring. You can resume light activity after when you feel up to it but should avoid heavy lifting or rigorous exercise/running for 3 weeks after surgery.

  • The cost of a neck lift ranges from $3500 - $5000, not including OR, implant or anesthesia fees.
